Heading to the Maine Stormwater Conference!

FluidState is headed to the Maine Stormwater Conference in Portland, Maine on Monday and Tuesday, December 2-3. We’re really excited to attend, reach out to folks in the Maine community who are pushing the envelope for stormwater management and design, and discuss with municipalities the upcoming MS4, specifically how FluidState Consulting can help out with Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) program development, field work, and training, all things that we love here at FluidState Consulting! We’ll be there with our partners, Environmental Canine Services who, in addition to offering canine scent tracking for IDDE field work, have deep experience in IDDE program development.

Podcast Development

The Lake Champlain Basin has some problems with polluted water. But what are they, actually? Does anyone really have a good grasp on how this complicated aquatic ecosystem functions? Why do algae blooms happen? Where does all the phosphorus come from? What are we doing about it?

FluidState is in the process of creating a podcast miniseries to explore this issue. We’ll choose interesting topics but most importantly, we’ll break it down so that everyone from specialists in water quality work to the average concerned (or not-concerned) citizen of the Basin can understand what’s going on.

Will we cover everything? Nope. Will we get into every issue? No way.

What we will do is present material in an easy-to-understand fashion so everyone can see what’s up.

Cartoons = $1M USD…

Cartoons = $1M USD…

Cartoons!

Cartoons convey information like few other media. That’s why FluidState is partnering with a GREAT illustrator to create a series of explanatory cartoons to talk about current issues in water quality in the Lake Champlain Basin.

Why cartoons? Because FluidState believes in simplicity in communication. If a picture is worth a thousand words, an illustration can be worth so much more because it can control and alter reality in a way that a photograph can’t. We’re excited about this project…a lot.

Getting Going!

FluidState Consulting, LLC is new and we’re developing partnerships and collaborations for the future. Don’t mistake novelty for inexperience, though. Our principal, Dana Allen, has nearly a decade of experience in water quality work in research, design, outreach, assessment, and investigation of various water issues.
