Smoke Testing Inspections

For Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) and Sewer Infiltration & Intrusion (I&I)

Flying the drone during liquid smoke testing for projects like sanitary sewer infiltration and intrusion studies, rooftop drain identification investigations, and illicit discharge detection work can reduce time spent in the field.

Liquid Smoke Testing

Liquid smoke testing is a great way for municipalities and their consultants to test for sanitary sewer infiltration and intrusion (I&I), rooftops that are connected to the sanitary system which can contribute to Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), and illicit connections from the sanitary to the stormwater sewer system during Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) studies.

Aerial Support = Reduced Field Time

Spotting smoke from the ground is the normal method for connection verification. But over larger areas, in densely build up areas, areas with large volumes of traffic, or in the case of tall buildings, there can be significant challenges to a purely terrestrial approach. With a drone in the sky, smoke that may have gone unnoticed can be spotted. And crews will spend less time moving around a drainage on heavily trafficked streets or over private property looking for issues.
