Presentations

FluidState Consulting has a wealth of experience in planning, researching, designing, and delivering high quality presentations on topics related to water quality, from road erosion issues and solutions presented to homeowners to the ins and outs of Green Infrastructure and Low Impact Development solutions, we can explain these often complex topics in simple, easy to understand language. We believe in the use of imagery-heavy presentations as pictures are worth a thousand words and we can create photos, infographics, and charts/graphs to meaningfully convey your message. We have in-house experience with programs like Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator to create compelling materials.

We also have excellent relationships with individuals in the landscape architecture, photo rendering, and graphic design fields to take your material to the next level and create the most compelling presentation possible. Additionally, we have the tools to create presentations that can be shared online using slides and voice-over narration, facilitating your use of online platforms to disseminate your message.

Training Materials

Developing in-house capacity is important in ensuring that you reach your goals. FluidState can help develop high quality training materials on water quality related topics, from Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), road erosion issues and solutions for municipal public works departments, Green Infrastructure solutions for homeowners, municipalities, and other entities, to GIS and field data collection solutions. We have been involved in these areas for years and have had to create numerous solutions for our own work - so we can help you bring your staff up to speed on the most efficient, current workflows and methods.

Materials can take the form of

  • Manuals or other printed material (with associated digital forms)

  • In-person, field-based sessions to instruct practitioners on subject material in its native environment (particularly useful for training involving large amounts of field work like water quality testing for IDDE).

  • Recorded slideshows with voice-over narration

  • Video production through our network of talented videography partners

All this leverages the water quality expertise of FluidState Consulting with the technical production capabilities of our partners.

Innovative Approaches - Podcasts and Cartoons

An important part of outreach is meeting your stakeholders where they are. This can mean tailoring a message that resonates but it also extends to the careful selection of the medium by which the message is delivered. FluidState believes strongly that the medium is just as important as the message, which is why we’ve formed partnerships with talented production partners to develop podcasts and cartoons that explain and illustrate water quality issues in plain language using media that the average resident can easily access.

Our podcast production partner, Bright Blue EcoMedia, has years of experience in the audio (and video) production space, notably producing the acclaimed documentary Bloom about nutrient pollution in Lake Champlain. Their approach, goals, and values are closely aligned with FluidState’s as we both firmly believe that clearly communicating the seriousness of water quality issues is paramount, but also that solutions must be given to listeners in order to create a sense of hope that can spur on action by individuals.

FluidState also believes strongly in the power of visual imagery, whether it’s photos, infographics, or cartoons. We believe that this latter holds the power to communicate powerful ideas and messages in a format easily understood from young children to adults. We've formed a unique partnership with Tim Newcomb, one of the foremost environmentally and socially conscious illustrators in the State of Vermont. His work is recognized by nationally and he truly understands the social and environmental issues that he illustrates, leading to a higher quality product than others might generate.
